These immigrants were from Europe and the first place they got in the United States was New York. The journey across the Atlantic was so horrible. It took months on the sea. There were more people on the ship than the ship could carry. The ships were crowded. Most immigrants were poor people. They cannot afford a good position so they had to stay together in such a small place. There was not enough food, water or even fresh air for them. Everyday, some people dead. But all these situations cannot stop people. The reason why those people took this trip was they want to have a better life in this new land. They thought there were more opportunities in this new land. They came with hope and dream.
